Because I Love You Campaign

“Because I Love You” was a campaign created by directly impacted individuals seeking love and hope to end HIV stigma. In preparation for the campaign’s launch on World AIDS Day 2018, I was asked to lead on marketing and campaign design.


Brief: For campaign design, the Central Alabama Alliance, Resource and Advocacy Center led by Shakita Jones required four billboard designs—one for the launch event and three for throughout the following year—and corresponding posters. For campaign marketing, I was able to determine which marketing pieces we would explore as event swag.


Outcome: For the launch day event, I worked with several vendors to secure relevant items to give attendees (because coozies weren’t a viable option to me). First, I reached out to Fixate Designs located out of Murrieta, CA, to produce red silicon rings with “Because I Love You” inscribed on them. The idea was that these rings could act as a symbol and reminder to love those impacted by HIV abundantly and without hesitation. Secondly, I worked with Made by Cooper out of Europe to produce custom commemorative pins I designed for the campaign. The golden pins include a recessed red scripted lettering of the campaign name. Also, I worked with Say It With Condoms to produce an informational trifold condom package and gave them as a gift to attendees as a reminder to have protected sex.

Additionally, I worked with Sticker Mule to produce a die-cut vinyl sticker of the event logo and a local printer to print out thank you cards for all those in attendance. Through working so closely with the vendors, I was able to get some items free or discounted, and that resulted in additional savings for the nonprofit. During the event, everyone was impressed by the quality content from the campaign, and guests were eager to take swag not only for themselves but for their impacted friends and family.
